Here is where glitter, foils and all sorts of fun nail stuff reigns supreme.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03367012120674726975noreply@blogger.comBlogger42125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5244232800843744232.post-90276666201993457782012-06-17T23:44:00.001-04:002012-06-17T23:44:47.186-04:00Gradient NailsWell, hello all! I've got some exciting news - my blog has been viewed 1,001 times. Since I'm not some big time blogger, but do this just for the fun of it, seeing that people have looked at my nails and writing 1,001 times is pretty exciting. Okay, nerd gushing is now over.<br />
<br />
Today the hubby and I had our pictures taken. We've been together 5 years, married for 6 months, and we have not had any professional pictures taken. Ever. In his words, "I thought the roller coaster pictures from Sea World were a nice touch." This is what I am working with ladies and gentlemen. There is never a dull moment in our home.<br />
<br />
I've been dying to try a gradient nail after seeing tons of tutorials and I thought today's photo shoot was the perfect occasion. The dress I found for today's pictures has a fuchsia, blue, white and black pattern that swirls together. I wanted to incorporate those same colors for my nail art. I've never done gradient nails before, so I was not sure how the end result would look. Here is what I got.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVtGaejkdbALTdZ6Bm4XRb-Kt8u7BvgkOgMs7sQ6T_KEnav7-wG2AVmZvZDq7h3ta0cmrZ-b74vU5T3DWvANflTan4G43O6rJ9oIYPJqk26i7DTWXNG618KbjMUOtNByG3JE3ZAZHWxj-r/s1600/gradient+nail+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVtGaejkdbALTdZ6Bm4XRb-Kt8u7BvgkOgMs7sQ6T_KEnav7-wG2AVmZvZDq7h3ta0cmrZ-b74vU5T3DWvANflTan4G43O6rJ9oIYPJqk26i7DTWXNG618KbjMUOtNByG3JE3ZAZHWxj-r/s320/gradient+nail+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigxRxRf1FTeV2w93fO_x7WzX36NFa_WPZKcZCD9uAZzsLZbGQIBlc95i04TkqSETrmEjKBM1aQVAXGcQaExzOcdANxwcQQ3FLqnsZqaMj-TUkHqAA5BLbMtDTzrzjyn4fdRruiQSw1_4Dt/s1600/gradient+nail+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigxRxRf1FTeV2w93fO_x7WzX36NFa_WPZKcZCD9uAZzsLZbGQIBlc95i04TkqSETrmEjKBM1aQVAXGcQaExzOcdANxwcQQ3FLqnsZqaMj-TUkHqAA5BLbMtDTzrzjyn4fdRruiQSw1_4Dt/s320/gradient+nail+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I like how it came out. Next time I try this technique out I will use more contrasting colors. It would be fun, possibly bold. Today, however, did not call for a bold look. I wanted soft, demure, and romantic. <br />
<br />
I even took a picture of the colors I used so I could remember them. I decided to do my nails around 10:30 p.m. and once I took pictures and edited them, I was dead tired. Taking a bottle shot was the only way to remember all of the colors. So here they are in all their glory.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYOc7v2GLkoN_RvZ62UpBQFHWbsgB1DO98CxssT2E18ddkJ76BUwTqes4sHYkRyFbRb7Mr9MOG73WRUazOHH_HWLPfylrVhf2RBZqmcwfAMB4mRWvjN7lLJQvU5UgzeAKtXk5OUBiwF3py/s1600/Gradient+Nail+Colors.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYOc7v2GLkoN_RvZ62UpBQFHWbsgB1DO98CxssT2E18ddkJ76BUwTqes4sHYkRyFbRb7Mr9MOG73WRUazOHH_HWLPfylrVhf2RBZqmcwfAMB4mRWvjN7lLJQvU5UgzeAKtXk5OUBiwF3py/s320/Gradient+Nail+Colors.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">From left to right: A-England Order of the Garter, China Glaze Strawberry Fields, Zoya Cristina and Pandora</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I started with two coats of Pandora as my base. Then for the gradient look I used Order of the Garter, Strawberry Fields and Christina. It was all topped with Seche Vite. If you are interested in gradient nails just search "gradient nail tutorials" on Google or any search engine. I got tons of hits and then used the one that made the most sense to me. I like simple approaches so I followed a tutorial that uses a make-up sponge for the color application. Find what you like best.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to see how my nails look in the pictures . The photographer took some nice shots of us holding hands and she spot lighted our wedding bands. I'll have to post those pictures when I get them.<br />
<br />
Well that's it for tonight. Ta-ta!<br />
<br />
Hugs and love,<br />

Once again I am back and ready to bring on the nail fun. After posting about my nails for the parade, things just got really busy. It was my first time ever ending a school year as a teacher and it wore me out. I could barely stay awake long enough after work to eat let alone do my nails. And any polish I did put on my fingers didn't last long enough so I could take a picture. I'd always chip my polish off during the school day. Anyhow, like I mentioned, I'm back. I have the entire summer off (to job hunt) and so I'll be polishing with pretties again.<br />
<br />
I did manage to do a quick and bright mani for the last day of school. I figured some bright colors would lift my mood. This year was my first time saying good-bye to a class that was mine. It made me pretty bummed because my students were awesome and I don't have the luxury of seeing them next year in school because I was only a long-term sub. Usually pink and orange will make me happy and so that is the color combo I used<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMUZNv8U4FSe4uNZlZxRpuNvdkk7XJiqnJSGn5HnDuPjS6QeMa9gA_b-8NTCLvPgHXtJoiVmDeWPHkbtSmni_8IIS5dFy6uQJx5PlO7i17_t_K0pjH8wbH_VS2YYzavDqHRlM4cRXiyUvd/s1600/Last+Day+of+School+Nails.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMUZNv8U4FSe4uNZlZxRpuNvdkk7XJiqnJSGn5HnDuPjS6QeMa9gA_b-8NTCLvPgHXtJoiVmDeWPHkbtSmni_8IIS5dFy6uQJx5PlO7i17_t_K0pjH8wbH_VS2YYzavDqHRlM4cRXiyUvd/s320/Last+Day+of+School+Nails.jpg" width="234" /></a></div>
I went with a polka dot design because a) they are easy to do, b) they are cute, and c) I would love to own a bathing suit like this. I used two coats of an Ulta orange as my base and mixed the orange with <b>China Glaze Strawberry Fields</b>. I used the mixed color for my polka dots. I'm sorry for the horrible picture, but I took it right before work and I did not have time but for a few fuzzy shots before heading out.<br />
<br />
I really want to enjoy bright, fresh shades for this summer. I think this is a good start.<br />
<br />
As always, hugs and love.<br />
<br />

Well last night I had an adventure. A friend and I participated in a local parade last night. What was going to be a promising night turned into a rain-soaked story to grumble about when reminiscing on old times. We got POURED on for about 15 minutes before the float we were on had a chance to actually make in the parade; and then at the end of the parade my friend, myself and five other USF parade participants were stranded in no-man's land for an hour and a half before we were picked up from the end of the parade route. My nail design should have been an indicator of how the night was going to turn out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTEYSZT814KSdubWBfB0H-s1aUz2vpJ-YExn0tXEs6GIl2ouzZpkI7RNWALwMDqQ8h70l_A2XW24OpuBoMF6GoH3LqRvEtXO79AKvyhCcatFSGYPImswO9ILBW3Jw3bdtv0lwu2FOQyybn/s1600/edited+desoto+parade+nails.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTEYSZT814KSdubWBfB0H-s1aUz2vpJ-YExn0tXEs6GIl2ouzZpkI7RNWALwMDqQ8h70l_A2XW24OpuBoMF6GoH3LqRvEtXO79AKvyhCcatFSGYPImswO9ILBW3Jw3bdtv0lwu2FOQyybn/s320/edited+desoto+parade+nails.jpg" width="221" /></a></div>
The original idea was to use dots so that it looked like the beads we throw out to the crowd were also stranded across my nails. I wanted them to match my shirt that my friend made for me (white, green, gold)The idea did not translate to my nails. The dots look so random and weird. I tried, haha.<br />
<br />
Also I dislike, with great passion, <b>Zoya's Christinna</b>. I used it as my base coat because it is the only white I own. It's streaky, I always make a mess out of it and I have to call it quits on this polish. Time to invest in a good white cream polish. The other colors I used for my "beads" were <b>Zoya Midori</b> and a gold China Glaze color that I cannot remember the name of. I would check it out, but my kitten is curled up on my lap and it would be a shame to wake him up. :-)<br />
<br />
Overall, the design worked for the event The other girls there liked it a lot. I like the color combo of white, gold and bright green. I'll have to use them again for another day.<br />
<br />

What a beautiful Saturday it is turning out to be in sunny Florida. I am enjoying it in my air conditioned home, so I'll let you know if the heat makes it less beautiful.<br />
<br />
Today I feel like sharing <b>China Glaze Full Spectrum</b> from the Prismatic Collection. When I went to Sally's I saw these gems sitting on the shelf, untouched (who could pass them up!) and they said to me, "Take us with you." So I grabbed them. I tried out Full Spectrum first.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgREI3NWt0dGKZfgygjcjiTHxVyrygpgf2kclAyz8fDVXYqit52wLroMVP71JHgLMfI4ZMHTHTmn4b_XATxOJt9sPWbWP-jYKSh_Wr1FP0Z4uZ8QmebGCEnWnzD6HcVJGsS05wqtyyRVAP4/s1600/China+Glaze+Full+Spectrum+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgREI3NWt0dGKZfgygjcjiTHxVyrygpgf2kclAyz8fDVXYqit52wLroMVP71JHgLMfI4ZMHTHTmn4b_XATxOJt9sPWbWP-jYKSh_Wr1FP0Z4uZ8QmebGCEnWnzD6HcVJGsS05wqtyyRVAP4/s320/China+Glaze+Full+Spectrum+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
In this picture I am wearing two coats of Full Spectrum with two coats of Seche Vite. I wanted BLING for my high school friend's baby shower. She is having a little girl and I thought the color would be appropriate. I got a lot of compliments on this color.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjboAivZxBTohMGPANw3R3QaTD49hIwx_UZf4jiOpoQo-LfkbIkIKtSQ2T0I21hHCMI4Pn-R1QaP7tKE0H7_X1n-mqvlbD8E2Gl-sfDPkoYzAAbn7Ny_14QCAm4gL7ROz5CIW_7DGyPmkLC/s1600/China+Glaze+Full+Spectrum.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjboAivZxBTohMGPANw3R3QaTD49hIwx_UZf4jiOpoQo-LfkbIkIKtSQ2T0I21hHCMI4Pn-R1QaP7tKE0H7_X1n-mqvlbD8E2Gl-sfDPkoYzAAbn7Ny_14QCAm4gL7ROz5CIW_7DGyPmkLC/s320/China+Glaze+Full+Spectrum.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Even in shade, this color is eye catching.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
There is so much to love about this color. For instance: iridescent duo chrome like you are looking inside of an oyster shell, glitter and foil finish? It's amazing, really. My only complaint is that the life of this polish does not last with my teacher life. It chipped really easily. Even with the Seche Vite. I will also layer it for now on. It was bit of a gritty finish too. But it was fun to wear as is for a special occasion.<br />
<br />
Now I have to create fun nail art for the Bead Parade (it's a popular annual parade in the Sarasota/Bradenton area that has a much more dignified name). Like the parade name suggests, beads are thrown out by parade participants (ME!) and I want my nails looking just as great as those shiny beads.<br />
<br />
Hugs and love,<br />
Karen<br />

Today I have for your viewing pleasure, none other than <b>A-England's Order of the Garter</b>. Let the photo-viewing and the drooling commence!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB8Vtqmu3lVIGk69kRH4bmLPDVla-o9JibtJWXgYw5P_0C2UUjKjk6QeG34cPzeD5wWo1bFcV8Ox6fs1xUWWdRsarBUDd9UpNCSg2QYajDOboxiJxVeJexL2ogqgC05Q8-nOYYBbs8wMzn/s1600/A-England+Order+of+the+Garter+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB8Vtqmu3lVIGk69kRH4bmLPDVla-o9JibtJWXgYw5P_0C2UUjKjk6QeG34cPzeD5wWo1bFcV8Ox6fs1xUWWdRsarBUDd9UpNCSg2QYajDOboxiJxVeJexL2ogqgC05Q8-nOYYBbs8wMzn/s320/A-England+Order+of+the+Garter+4.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
I could not have asked for a better first experience with the A-England brand. Order of the Garter is a rich, jewel tone blue. The depth of this color is outstanding. It is truly one of those "glows from within" polishes. Upon first glance the polish is a dark, deep midnight blue. Then when the light hits it you can see you the "glowing" lighter blue show itself. It's just amazing! And if you like to stare at the bottle before actually putting it on ( I like to study :-P ) you can see quick flashes of magenta. Although the magenta did not translate to the nail, I think that bit of color helps to make Order of the Garter such a unique and beautiful polish.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_jWV-x4PwsNd5NJNmg1rehe_MPfu14T2nONCfTUfuYg3jlqdQdI0iNX8z2KwE3WguUiHuQudVKy6duWs18w9OMsI_yXmqU7CjF3HghHOv0c8ffSMHro7UvHj445QrWASK34QIqN2T-itt/s1600/A-England+Order+of+the+Garter+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_jWV-x4PwsNd5NJNmg1rehe_MPfu14T2nONCfTUfuYg3jlqdQdI0iNX8z2KwE3WguUiHuQudVKy6duWs18w9OMsI_yXmqU7CjF3HghHOv0c8ffSMHro7UvHj445QrWASK34QIqN2T-itt/s320/A-England+Order+of+the+Garter+3.jpg" width="217" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A photo with flash to show the "glow form within" blue.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The application of this polish was flawless. It literally went on like butter. The formula is smooth, and the brush is to die for in my opinion. In all of my pictures I have two coats of Order of the Garter on with a top coat of Seche Vite.<br />
<br />
This is easily one of my top picks of blue polishes. I have received so many compliments on this color. Even my kindergarten students enjoy it. One student exclaimed that my nails are "blue like a blue M&M." That's a big deal for 6 year-old!<br />
<br />
If you have not tried any of the A-England nail polishes then go do yourself a favor and get one! I cannot wait to add more to my collection. They are genius.<br />
<br />
Hugs and love,<br />

Last Tuesday was my birthday and as my sister and I were talking about all of my wonderful birthday plans, she asked me what I would like as a present. Since my little sister is awesome, remembered that I have been dying for A-England nail polishes. And so it was that my sister ordered my very first A-England polish. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">EEEEKKKK!!!! Order of the Garter is finally here! I will put up swatches ASAP. It won't be tonight though because I am going on a field trip with my kindergarten class. We are going to a historical park and agricultural museum. Something tells me it won't be nice on my nails and I want Order of the Garter to be on my nails for a very long time! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">Until then....</span><br />

I hope that everyone had a lovely Saturday. Today I have for you my Easter design. I wanted something fun and that brought me back the happy spring days of my childhood; like the fun colors in the Rankin/Bass <i>Peter Cottontail </i>movie. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm7ecYJZw5NfH3RNdmMr48W-QuI3-Zj-H0QCoihCfvEjhkJebfIQsZDePaSc29I6dWmpbHWyvdrwUA58Q5vplZgLYD3Nbp4A65DsgMaXNEsO40aKtgMCQGAFTAStvbZWZMxfHL18Gv1hbS/s1600/Easter+Nails_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm7ecYJZw5NfH3RNdmMr48W-QuI3-Zj-H0QCoihCfvEjhkJebfIQsZDePaSc29I6dWmpbHWyvdrwUA58Q5vplZgLYD3Nbp4A65DsgMaXNEsO40aKtgMCQGAFTAStvbZWZMxfHL18Gv1hbS/s320/Easter+Nails_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigVbA5oorDMHGv5JRqB04mJk7kwK56WB3VeOGQQ6vgyNw3RopzyvAAhK7apLfaGqyCykNmkCruRwO-1uBhtdooZXUdfPsPZUwyj1QV0yKwsFfe8clPN0SezRrHpv-H7HEJ-upEoqYS1Akf/s1600/Easter+Nails_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="261" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigVbA5oorDMHGv5JRqB04mJk7kwK56WB3VeOGQQ6vgyNw3RopzyvAAhK7apLfaGqyCykNmkCruRwO-1uBhtdooZXUdfPsPZUwyj1QV0yKwsFfe8clPN0SezRrHpv-H7HEJ-upEoqYS1Akf/s320/Easter+Nails_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"> Don't the dots of color look like jelly beans? I love how it reminds me of an Easter basket and <i>Peeps</i>! To achieve this easy look I first started with a white base of <b>Zoya Christinna</b>. Then I did two coats of <b>Revlon Sunshine Sparkle</b>. For the polka dots I used <b>OPI Planks A Lot</b> and <b>Sparrow Me the Drama</b> along with <b>Revlon Blue Lagoon</b>. I topped it all off with <b>INM Northern Lights</b>.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's the deal with this mani. I have learned the two Revlon colors are from their 2011 summer collection. I have not tried Blue Lagoon as a base color yet, however this is my second attempt with Sunshine Sparkle. I still can't stand it. Even with a base coat of white the color is still pale. The shimmer is barely there on the nail and that is what grabbed my eye when I looked into the bottle. The formula is HORRIBLE! It's streaky and will not settle to an even finish. I thought I'd give this color a second chance and hoped the results would be better. Some other blogs I checked out complained about this color's formula as well. So if you happen to pass by it on a clearance rack or see it at Wal-mart, like I did, pass it up! It's not worth your money. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Aside from the horrible experience of Sunshine Sparkle, I do enjoy this mani. It's just what I needed for some Easter cheer. A Happy Easter to you all! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Hugs and love,</span><br />

I am finally moved to my new apartment and my nail polish is back in order. Time for some new nail art! Oh and my birthday is this Tuesday, so that meant a birthday present from my amazing grandmother. I marched right over to Sally's because they are having a buy 2 get 1 free deal on their nail polish. This is what I got.</span><br />

I CANNOT wait to try all three of these out. Tomorrow I am going to a friend's baby shower and I am feeling a cute mani coming on using <b>Full Spectrum</b>. </span><br />

I do not have green or rainbow nails for today's post, but I do have something that will still feel like you found the gold at the end of the rainbow. I have mermaid inspired nails. I'm letting the secret out of the bag: I LOVE mermaids. Since it was spring break this week and I have been at the beach as much as possible I wanted the inspiration of those beautiful sea people on my nails. I was able to do it from this simple <a href="http://little-nails.blogspot.com/2011/12/mermaid-nail-tutorial.html?m=1">tutorial</a> on <b><i>Little Nails</i></b>. Check it out!</span><br />

I only wanted to do an accent nail to try it out and now that I know how simple it is, I will do each nail in this mermaid design for now on.I used bobby pins to make the dots, but I will use a dotting tool next time for larger sized dots. The colors I used for the mermaid nail were: <b>Sinful Colors Cinderella</b> (base coat for all of my nails), <b>Zoya Rica</b>, <b>OPI Planks</b> <b>A Lot</b>, <b>Rally Pretty Pink</b>, <b>Not Like the Movies</b>, and <b>China Glaze Custom Kicks</b>. The other nails then had one coat of Not Like the Movies painted over Cinderella. I wanted them to look like the inside of a sea shell. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Also, excuse the messed up nails. Right after I finished this beauty I had to save my sister from getting red hair dye all over her face. I haven't had a chance to fix it because I've been so busy hosting my aunt while she visits Florida. Still enjoy the mermaid nail though! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I see many more mermaid manis in my future for summer. I plan on being a beach bunny all summer long and this nail design is perfect for it. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope you all have a happy, fun and safe Saint Patrick's Day.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />

Happy Spring Break to those of you who get to enjoy it. And I am sorry to those of you who don't or are lamenting the fact that your kids out of school for a week. I have mixed feelings because I was able to start work for two days and then I have the entire week off. Perfecting timing!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I will have some amazing spring break inspired nails for you this week, but until then I have for you one of the very first times I painted my nails and then attempted to show off my work to the world. Before this blog I had a Facebook photo album dedicated to my new <strike>obsession</strike> hobby. I thought it would be fun to see the progress that I have made since I started painting my nails on a regular basis. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMqnvcFmdyBujvk1RQQs3Lf1kEe4bwSbIOfZ0SMmXwAvphUitqb4WPwZAU6OyJXM6m-R0kKo7RW5cYRv9pe_nYeoj6hEbcwh7fULiGdpcxNsuATPOVlHC8WbD6AZYqPRnlBpUXCPpKpyw/s1600/Talulah.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMqnvcFmdyBujvk1RQQs3Lf1kEe4bwSbIOfZ0SMmXwAvphUitqb4WPwZAU6OyJXM6m-R0kKo7RW5cYRv9pe_nYeoj6hEbcwh7fULiGdpcxNsuATPOVlHC8WbD6AZYqPRnlBpUXCPpKpyw/s320/Talulah.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">This is <b>Talulah</b> by <b>Zoya</b>. This pretty blue color was one of my first Zoya purchases it. I do not have the bottle right now (my lovely friend, Emily, has it from a polish swap we did) but I remember purchasing it because it was this beautiful sapphire blue in the bottle. And I loved the name. I'm a highland romance junkie. Oh, and this what I said about it at the time of application, <i>"</i><span class="hasCaption"><i>It only took me 3 tries to get this blue looking good, but it was well worth it!" I still sound the same</i>. :-p</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I have to say since July 11, 2011 (that is when this picture was taken) I have done much better when it comes taking care of my nails and making them shine. I also have a new "camera" and pictures look a bit better now; that helps with the blog presentation. I think I need to give <b>Talulah</b> another try since I am better at applying saturated colors such as this one. Ideas of some pretty awesome designs are dancing away in my head.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So, to those of you have been reading my blog I appreciate it. I hope it can only get better. :-)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Hugs and love,</span><br />

Why is it Monday again? The weekend flew by and I feel like I did not do anything. I think it's this apartment, it sucks the life of me. Thank goodness the hubby and I are moving in about two and a half weeks. Our new place is going to be wonderful and it's gorgeous at the new complex. We'll actually have plants to look at! It's a long story so let's move on to the nail polish! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I've seen this color around the blogosphere and I had to get it. I love everything fairy tale so naturally <b>Sinful Colors' Cinderella</b> had to be part of my collection. Look at the beauty of the finished product.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2xNimLUUEuQJdxHMIZDFKmveL4TtBnq1zH_4vhFl4_XFh9QaJYer89Ud5Qd7fWZRhNqGzfqYCz1fTP-8pgnj4PB2P0ES8ugV9Gk8Fl1yxMuT8g3ozGinkd0_rIAY4fMBwySWAnhVKUX3/s1600/Sinful+Color+Cinderella+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2xNimLUUEuQJdxHMIZDFKmveL4TtBnq1zH_4vhFl4_XFh9QaJYer89Ud5Qd7fWZRhNqGzfqYCz1fTP-8pgnj4PB2P0ES8ugV9Gk8Fl1yxMuT8g3ozGinkd0_rIAY4fMBwySWAnhVKUX3/s320/Sinful+Color+Cinderella+9.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I can see the slight pink color that Cinderella has to offer. The color itself is a light blue shimmer with flashes of pink throughout. It was a little streaky and left some bald spots, but with two coats the color evened out. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTiIZ6nva4WNF1CsGCHVWfbdA0HvQaUcI3JrNoptf-exjLnNoc2QZklxApHNIPG9apw19S_h5qxtxjhe-pJ5vXGKaVXtisXhx50WDFZovakUGBovWO8gQl_GNqL6MF50EdTvpDHc6MHt0v/s1600/Sinful+Color+Cinderella+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTiIZ6nva4WNF1CsGCHVWfbdA0HvQaUcI3JrNoptf-exjLnNoc2QZklxApHNIPG9apw19S_h5qxtxjhe-pJ5vXGKaVXtisXhx50WDFZovakUGBovWO8gQl_GNqL6MF50EdTvpDHc6MHt0v/s320/Sinful+Color+Cinderella+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I was inspired by all of the magic that the story of Cinderella has to offer, and of course her gorgeous glass slippers. To include the parts of her story I sponged on two <b>NYX</b> un-named blue glitter polishes. Then I sponged the tips of my nails with <b>Nicole by OPI's Follow Me on Glitter.</b> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I really loved this look and I wore it for a good three days before I finally chipped it. I will be using <b>Cinderella</b> a lot in the future. It's such a pretty, delicate and whimsical color. </span><br />

March has finally made it's presence known. If I were up in NJ right now I'd start itching for spring. I loved saying, "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb." Then once March left that meant April! I'm an April baby so naturally I love the ultimate spring month. Since I am feeling springy I wanted to share China Glaze's Gothic Lolita with you!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaXaDmV6A7Nm5P8oWaXSyAIr0gLfIA6lrnZqrSwTHccbmTcdafBYOdw47fAxTVvExwSv2ddEfnJ7QhgQWygBm-1jP5azyCTWkPZvXUq-fjFu_uaAHsB4IbiuKpNEd7hWcBPPAyrW78Tz1_/s1600/Gothic+Lolita+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaXaDmV6A7Nm5P8oWaXSyAIr0gLfIA6lrnZqrSwTHccbmTcdafBYOdw47fAxTVvExwSv2ddEfnJ7QhgQWygBm-1jP5azyCTWkPZvXUq-fjFu_uaAHsB4IbiuKpNEd7hWcBPPAyrW78Tz1_/s320/Gothic+Lolita+3.jpg" width="185" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"> This beauty, from China Glaze's Electro Pop, Collection just screams "OMG WEAR ME!" I love that it is a blue based purple. It's bright, but not too washed out. Sometimes I see a pretty purple in a bottle and then when I put it on it's bright, or not pigmented enough. It's just blah. Not Gothic Lolita, though!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMCby16Aipz70DJrrMuQT8_3yQ17X1IyCVkATMTUyFhxjstY0O0s0cOjHvrNuCwB-h6KuELAOqfXYcQhK9J9QBtD9_6-Y2fM8dirAZ0xl021cO_-DFAbbJPU2Xj7IoKhqHiiLbHUYRiNs9/s1600/Gothic+Lolita+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMCby16Aipz70DJrrMuQT8_3yQ17X1IyCVkATMTUyFhxjstY0O0s0cOjHvrNuCwB-h6KuELAOqfXYcQhK9J9QBtD9_6-Y2fM8dirAZ0xl021cO_-DFAbbJPU2Xj7IoKhqHiiLbHUYRiNs9/s320/Gothic+Lolita+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">The formula on this gem was very easy to apply. It glided on so smoothly! I used two coats and then used a top coat of Northern Lights because who doesn't love a holographic sparkle? </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Enjoy March 1st! I hope it came in like lamb for you as did here in sunny FL. Until next time...</span><br />

</span><span style="font-size: large;">I'm baaack! Hello all! I've missed my lovely nail blog. I am thrilled that nail polish inspiration has hit me again! I know I said that I was going to make a new post in March, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to post on February 29th. Come on, it's a leap year! It's a "leap" to a new polish direction. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So what is this new amazing polish that I just had to post? <b>OPI's I'm Not Really A Waitress</b>. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP8WDmruwho8qKhiUprqXhyzKkNR68DLq5VdFnPwt6MnobCErFFZoCRLvJX7EZu86tjcLBhQFWsGu6fhsUMwCO4fSWySwB2iRkQMJqTw8WIazCYOJumHDEnIjsSBaKUzEYuJhQjY3Zm5uZ/s1600/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="279" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP8WDmruwho8qKhiUprqXhyzKkNR68DLq5VdFnPwt6MnobCErFFZoCRLvJX7EZu86tjcLBhQFWsGu6fhsUMwCO4fSWySwB2iRkQMJqTw8WIazCYOJumHDEnIjsSBaKUzEYuJhQjY3Zm5uZ/s320/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I LOVE this color. I tend to stay away from reds because I have horrible memories from when I was eight-years-old painting my nails red and having my nails stained red FOREVER. Oh the cuticles! Thank goodness I have gotten much better since then. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I only purchased this color because I read about it so much in Karen Marie Moning's <i>Fever </i>series. She is my absolute favorite author by the way. In her series the protagonist, Mac, loved to have her nails perfectly manicured. One of the colors she enjoyed wearing was <b>I'm Not Really A Waitress</b>. Of course I had to see it for myself. I bought it and then stared at it regretting my decision. The color looked too dark in the bottle, but after painting my sister's nails with this color I HAD to have it on mine. I'm in love.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2_f3FCxPgpDpZmtq18cGHISlVXvk29LKqsUz8ZPlPi7DTX-lb7c0H4yGJ35MnuDASPnUGz1pS-jxivb5FZzMiMDzcPofNBv3IYIwSt1JI74j2SQ1WLpM5Wit0wmX2R7O61WtMwKoglgYB/s1600/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress_no+tpcoat+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2_f3FCxPgpDpZmtq18cGHISlVXvk29LKqsUz8ZPlPi7DTX-lb7c0H4yGJ35MnuDASPnUGz1pS-jxivb5FZzMiMDzcPofNBv3IYIwSt1JI74j2SQ1WLpM5Wit0wmX2R7O61WtMwKoglgYB/s320/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress_no+tpcoat+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">Look at the red shimmer! Look at the shine! This is without a top coat. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiMtd2MTNjwZ5VnPOI60BoRBaLyn3K0LJUiAQdi7b672j4GBo92TYatZc606301rkiQfwwCRuF7seLf71M0-8uBTHrrTVYSqCxQSbzwhbnfN__whv6X5kjK_Yndk3i5PFBwtZ5IOwOG1qI/s1600/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress_no+tpcoat+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiMtd2MTNjwZ5VnPOI60BoRBaLyn3K0LJUiAQdi7b672j4GBo92TYatZc606301rkiQfwwCRuF7seLf71M0-8uBTHrrTVYSqCxQSbzwhbnfN__whv6X5kjK_Yndk3i5PFBwtZ5IOwOG1qI/s320/OPI+Not+Really+A+Waitress_no+tpcoat+3.jpg" width="305" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">It looks like it is glowing from within. This is on my top ten list for sure. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />

I didn't even have to clean this one up. It was perfection and I am so proud of it! Even my husband and his friend are amazed at how well I can apply polish now. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's one last picture for the road. This is my finished manicure with two coats of <b>I'm Not Really a Waitress</b> and two coats of Northern Lights.</span><br />

I am sorry for being away for so long. It has been a pretty tough month for me and my family. I was not into nail polish because I felt uninspired. Stress and loss of a family member will do that to you though. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">With that said, the rough patch seems to be over and things are looking up. My husband and I are moving to a new place and my new job starts soon. I will have to come up with some interesting nail designs for my kiddos when I begin teaching in March. My nails were always a conversation starter with my students. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I will be back! Look for new posts featuring fun nails in March. Enjoy the rest of February!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />

Wow, do I have a gem for you! I am sure many of you have seen this on the blogosphere, but I was finally able to get my little manicured fingers on <b>Flashy</b> by <b>Finger Paints</b>. It is the first flakie polish in my collection. It is not the original color tone that I wanted, but it was the only one left on the shelf at Sally's. I picked it up anyway and I'm glad that I did. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfebl1ZahFzviiVEh0cuWdTyR1tB1P2RE0Ct2oYYMuNfyZMQs0n1IWmJqh0Bgrt0YhmJ9SthWaGcGZiZF7pEgldu2l9lAnImiQGU8fVPYfWwLjpGU4hv-oaOYx1JytopwKNsBsjrDFaJZg/s1600/Finger+Paints-Flashy+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfebl1ZahFzviiVEh0cuWdTyR1tB1P2RE0Ct2oYYMuNfyZMQs0n1IWmJqh0Bgrt0YhmJ9SthWaGcGZiZF7pEgldu2l9lAnImiQGU8fVPYfWwLjpGU4hv-oaOYx1JytopwKNsBsjrDFaJZg/s320/Finger+Paints-Flashy+7.jpg" width="292" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Flashy</b> is a green to orange (or orange to green) flakie polish suspended in a clear base. I layered it over<b> OPI On Stranger Tides</b>. My hubby said that my nails looked like Slimer from <i>Ghostbusters</i>. I took that as compliment because I think Slimer is the bomb. Yes, I went there. No more words, just some close up shots of the awesomeness that is Flashy. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjEX44RlQ2ZsmhV6dcC2Dl691x6RDpOlA5bCiykqouLsYquAVJEK3IKucIl4M6Z982k9CeZkNbM3HJph1Ul4_Ssy2sgtqxdbGMnpQTjxLVrqqzbzJSXCTAhyJ9IhNW11nuvEnghcKImAS/s1600/Finger+Paints-Flashy+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjEX44RlQ2ZsmhV6dcC2Dl691x6RDpOlA5bCiykqouLsYquAVJEK3IKucIl4M6Z982k9CeZkNbM3HJph1Ul4_Ssy2sgtqxdbGMnpQTjxLVrqqzbzJSXCTAhyJ9IhNW11nuvEnghcKImAS/s320/Finger+Paints-Flashy+2.jpg" width="289" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">That's some <i>Ecto Cooler</i> right there. Otherwise known as "Slimer Juice" in my house. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOLjmS04V_JbMT8egmyBRrOXpFSaDtdQXuhQRlJp2_sm8WWdQ5Pp7ck_vSHRZqPGLCX0sAlVNLk2dBn1Vag2t06qsspMPdwTYk5k2z54fEdpWLiZXBtUJRlJMOYeZcwUqUTuWDb_1r-ReK/s1600/Finger+Paints-Flashy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOLjmS04V_JbMT8egmyBRrOXpFSaDtdQXuhQRlJp2_sm8WWdQ5Pp7ck_vSHRZqPGLCX0sAlVNLk2dBn1Vag2t06qsspMPdwTYk5k2z54fEdpWLiZXBtUJRlJMOYeZcwUqUTuWDb_1r-ReK/s320/Finger+Paints-Flashy.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And just one more for the road. Flakies are my new obsession and I must own more. Too bad rent, groceries and utilities come first. :-p <br />
<br />
Have a Fanciful Friday! </span><br />

Today you get to see what happens when I go into a crafting mood (i.e. creating bathroom organization holders and front door wreaths for Valentine's Day). I felt like trying to do something different to keep the crafty juices flowing. The results of today's mani were inspired by yet another Pinterest picture I saw. The blogger (and I am so sorry that I did not pin the picture because I cannot remember her blog or her name) created a stained glass design using foil polishes and a stamping plate. I tried her method and failed. Stamping and I are enemies! So I attempted to create my own version of a stained glass mani. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
I started with a base of <b>Zoya Christinna</b>. Once that was dried I went to town with my make-up sponges and sponged on a modge podge of colors. I used foil polishes, shimmer polishes, and some good old cream polishes. I quite liked the look a lot. I would have left my mani with the different colors but I had to try the next step or I would have gone crazy wondering what would have happened. </span><br />

I know everyone has done and seen the shatter polishes, but I never really used them like crazy when I first got them. I guess I was a little over done when it came to all of the pictures I was seeing of shatter and crackle manis. And I know why I do not touch my Black Shatter that often - it is a super annoying formula. However, I did get the result pictured below. </span><br />

I hope that everyone is having a splendid Tuesday. I know that I am, but any time I have some yummy coffee in hand makes for a splendid day. Today I have for you a watercolor mani. I came across the technique after spending some time on Pinterest. Then I discovered that the picture I saw belonged to this <a href="http://www.chalkboardnails.com/2012/01/watercolor-nails.html">blog</a> and, well, the directions were so simple and the results so beautiful that I had to try it for myself. I call it "take one" however, because I decided to try this out at 11:00 p.m. last night, while watching Dr. Quinn and I was too lazy too actually look up the blog again. Turns out that I missed a few steps but, hey, I like my results. On to the pictures! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7jIMqePrQ-9f_UmxBCyt6OqPFw758Npfx5vkkLyOJB2mWSQHx1nIj1aQdc_tNS-lUqcjGJP2hlMm3w_PRcw4nyyCq17WWS2cfhVAp6hbew1Zc9DGb9Vw90xy4H4msDHxjFyXeim6krIlK/s1600/Water+Color+mani_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7jIMqePrQ-9f_UmxBCyt6OqPFw758Npfx5vkkLyOJB2mWSQHx1nIj1aQdc_tNS-lUqcjGJP2hlMm3w_PRcw4nyyCq17WWS2cfhVAp6hbew1Zc9DGb9Vw90xy4H4msDHxjFyXeim6krIlK/s320/Water+Color+mani_3.jpg" width="207" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I used <b>OPI On Stranger Tides</b> as my base coat and then tried out my new Revlon polishes for the "watercolors" because I love how their pastel colors look together. I wanted a Monet effect. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
Here is a shot of all of the colors I used for my "watercolors". </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsn8X1BMI66tdgQ-KYzMYcutsfKmlN6GKA3W1RuDIi4gNPrMRyMYyDLNBrU5x99CaP-d2wClTBOXif5T5VGKbqG_p98UeF7DsS8fbTGy-2C9YuNqUcuWMk89ytQTHQlaqACE_VYFPD2Cqw/s1600/Water+Color+mani+colors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsn8X1BMI66tdgQ-KYzMYcutsfKmlN6GKA3W1RuDIi4gNPrMRyMYyDLNBrU5x99CaP-d2wClTBOXif5T5VGKbqG_p98UeF7DsS8fbTGy-2C9YuNqUcuWMk89ytQTHQlaqACE_VYFPD2Cqw/s320/Water+Color+mani+colors.jpg" width="305" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">What you see here is <b>OPI Planks A Lot </b>and the three new Revlon colors I recently purcashed. From left to right, they are: <b>Blue Lagoon, Minted and Sunshine Sparkle</b>. On a side note, I finally made Sunshine Sparkle work for me! <br />
<br />
And just because I absolutely, with out a doubt, fell in love with this color last night; I present to you <b>On Stranger Tides</b>! <br />
</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFCrmv2pVY6H9Tsuwkezxm34sR64Ab-eC45_iZ1t6ejVBuX0oP6JylZRL_qWfQeW5LN7R9eK6kpPBHtGCjRWK_i5fCzsE9eC_Y_ZEowyvNFy_kjOdWnK3gXJ0SgTrlqLKS2JXjpVzl9LbZ/s1600/On+Stranger+Tides.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFCrmv2pVY6H9Tsuwkezxm34sR64Ab-eC45_iZ1t6ejVBuX0oP6JylZRL_qWfQeW5LN7R9eK6kpPBHtGCjRWK_i5fCzsE9eC_Y_ZEowyvNFy_kjOdWnK3gXJ0SgTrlqLKS2JXjpVzl9LbZ/s320/On+Stranger+Tides.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">Oh. My. Goodness. I did not realize how beautiful this color was. Last night was my first time really trying it out and I cannot believe I waited this long. The creamy sage color is just so beautiful. I could literally stare it all day long. If I had it my way, and I was able to use sage as one of my wedding colors (oh husbands, how they change your plans sometimes), this would so be the color I would have used for my manicure. A pure gem! <br />
<br />
Well, I hope you continue to have a great day. Check out the link to the blog I mentioned and try this one out for yourself. It's pretty darn awesome. :-) <br />
<br />
Hugs and love,<br />

(A Pink Wednesday Edition) <span style="font-size: large;">I am in love with today's mani! But before I go any further let me just say that today is my first time ever doing a Pink Wednesday post. Hooray! Okay, back to the amazing and beautiful <b>Pure Ice Oh Baby!</b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0Wm95wjyK9s5GyG_5Ccu-cOmkWQjVkxeoiiSyTIOABOFylROwDEu9j5tzTYUB8zOBWSnxgTys_BN-NH8gUg67gNCeiBcSjaM9SsdK3Qop5_si_YXuKKtxMTNQpO6bFuxoEt3Dx8x5BZy/s1600/oh+baby+mani+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0Wm95wjyK9s5GyG_5Ccu-cOmkWQjVkxeoiiSyTIOABOFylROwDEu9j5tzTYUB8zOBWSnxgTys_BN-NH8gUg67gNCeiBcSjaM9SsdK3Qop5_si_YXuKKtxMTNQpO6bFuxoEt3Dx8x5BZy/s320/oh+baby+mani+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">I do not know where to begin. <b>Oh Baby!</b> is an iridescent shimmer packed in a clear-ish base. In the bottle you can see flashes of blue, green, pink and purple. It reminds me of the inside of an oyster shell. I layered it over two coats of OPI Sparrow Me the Drama (insert squeal of delight). On the nail you mostly see a sea foam green iridescent shimmer, but in the right light at the right angle you can catch the pink and some blue. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOQuOwKaWot1Fbi_BZ_fIZ6grF3wPw00hmmTLI1nPinaPWhgJzCvXXOIQTN_-O1AZK4lIU65zeyPy8qSf7X0MQK8XziwspCsxHhc-3UO27HFVZoXF6BayJYj8T-YOzFzl39w6Rdgzlxj33/s1600/oh+baby+mani+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOQuOwKaWot1Fbi_BZ_fIZ6grF3wPw00hmmTLI1nPinaPWhgJzCvXXOIQTN_-O1AZK4lIU65zeyPy8qSf7X0MQK8XziwspCsxHhc-3UO27HFVZoXF6BayJYj8T-YOzFzl39w6Rdgzlxj33/s320/oh+baby+mani+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">Here is a closer look at the iridescent beauty. I am also really proud of my polish application this time around - best one ever! I found it a bit difficult to capture the depth of Oh Baby! on camera, but believe me, it's stunning. I feel like I have fairy wings painted on my nails. I have caught myself just starting at my nails before I realize I should be doing something else, like, I don't know, driving...just kidding! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And for fun and giggles I present you with a picture of just Sparrow Me the Drama because this has got to be one of my favorite pink polishes I own. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8VzfVKd6PMZnOAvE9HLiCeXK2Z4hYmdFa10q0IuCuiKPQj6GQvAOIaES2Zja1d4FTmqkPtvdfLHQxJf8XA4BSo8mmeBnG6nFuO_S9rjW6ofEOsEOZTBVce9CY-0_uqboqqfF6nAHK0VoQ/s1600/Oh+Baby+mani.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8VzfVKd6PMZnOAvE9HLiCeXK2Z4hYmdFa10q0IuCuiKPQj6GQvAOIaES2Zja1d4FTmqkPtvdfLHQxJf8XA4BSo8mmeBnG6nFuO_S9rjW6ofEOsEOZTBVce9CY-0_uqboqqfF6nAHK0VoQ/s320/Oh+Baby+mani.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">Just look at how lovely it is. And the shine! This is without a top coat. I need to use this color more often. <br />
<br />
I hope you enjoyed and happy Wednesday! <br />
<br />
Hugs and love,</span><br />

When I first began this blog I promised myself that I would share my failed mani attempts. This is a journey after all. I like to see how I can improve over time when I put my mind to something. I've been doing pretty well since I first started getting nail polish crazy, but today I was defeated by <b>Revlon Sunshine Sparkle</b>. Le sigh. </span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Offending nail polish.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-size: large;">This was my second (and last time) trying to make this polish work. The pastel yellow with a pearly sheen called out to me. It looked so fresh and fun. I imagined a beautiful mani with some flowers or, birds! I just saw cute and flirty. Dreamers can dream. This formula is pure frustration. It is thick on the brush and then comes off thin and streaky on the nail. It does not build up layers well. It takes forever to try too. I am not patient when comes to drying times. For a beautiful color that applies well I can wait, but not this one. </span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-size: large;">I said to myself, "Fine. It's streaky, but a good stamp design will pick it up." So I attempted to use a french tip design. I wanted to the stamp apply in a vertical stripe on half of the nail. I failed. Since I was frustrated and did not feel like saving this doomed mani, I practiced stamping. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I came out with this hot mess. I think I need a break from stamping for a little bit. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I just can't seem to get the right amount of polish on the plate and yadda, yadda, yadda. I just hope my next mani is better. I plan to use a<b> Pure Ice</b> color I found at Walmart. Let's cross our fingers for that one!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope I didn't bore anyone. If anything, I hope someone gets a laugh out of this. And if anyone of you reading this has had success with this color, please tell me about it. I am so sad this didn't work out. <br />

Until next time!</span><br />

It's only been 6 days since the new year began, but I'm back! My computer and I were having issues when it came to saving and editing photos. How can a girl have a blog about nail polish if the photos aren't there? Well, I finally ordered my laptop to work and so I have a quick post to share. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcnrYVix1m87YNZFGheivOljZxxen9oTo1l_pXV77DhgLNp0pQ0DMyMIYXiedGRWcIyYgfVuE3j9ZTJW6nvpfYqclfQy1Q0lSvXVFFisn0M-HK9lkVyE5XDEp7hSMUvc7rDU6MJhPXsNwT/s1600/Antiquated+mani.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcnrYVix1m87YNZFGheivOljZxxen9oTo1l_pXV77DhgLNp0pQ0DMyMIYXiedGRWcIyYgfVuE3j9ZTJW6nvpfYqclfQy1Q0lSvXVFFisn0M-HK9lkVyE5XDEp7hSMUvc7rDU6MJhPXsNwT/s320/Antiquated+mani.png" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">What I have to share with you all today is <b>Color Club's Antiquated</b> from the Foiled Collection. This was my New Year's Eve mani. I wanted to wear something simple, classic and pretty. I also thought it was the perfect color because it reminded me of champagne. Once again, Color Club came through. I absolutely love the color. At first I was unsure about the color with my skin tone, but it wound up being fabulous. It's a lovely neutral tone with just a hint of pizzaz. And I love foil nail polishes anyway, so it was going to be a winner in my book. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This picture shows one coat of Antiquated with a light coating of <b>Orly's Winter Wonderland</b>. I topped it all off with SV. What I really love about this collection so far is that the polishes are so pigmented that they are easily finished in one coat as long as you have a steady hand. I have used 3 out of the 6 polishes so far. I cannot wait to try out the rest.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope 2012 makes this blog a bit more interesting. I really want to try some fun, fancy, brave and bold colors this year. For me that will start with a yellow polish! I can't wait to share it with you. Until then, hugs and love. </span><br />

Merry Christmas! I will not talk much at all, I just wanted to share my festive Christmas Day mani. I kept it simple and sweet with <b>Zoya Kissy</b> and <b>Color Club Perfect Mol-Ten</b>. I love this day; even a tad bit more than Christmas Day itself. I like the magic of Christmas Eve. The suspense of waiting for Santa to come with presents has stayed with me since childhood. However, since I am not a child anymore, nor do I have my own at present I decided to put that excitement to nail art! And for today I have a snowflake mani for Christmas Eve inspired by Cristina of <a href="http://www.letthemhavepolish.com/">Let Them Have Polish</a> Of course hers came out 10 million times better because she is amazing when it comes to nails. Mine came out pretty okay since I get frustrated with stamping very easily. On to the picture!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKv0rE5113DH-VazR5aol8qvPjQUPgTzetfK6qrB7U3InIIRzZtVejhQ6XXlI2EQyV6BYM3tEd3rzO-BWMxxqlaPnggIk5pLcdL3H1HvNpGRzFh-a62Wm-cNgWRw0rzFjrw_chHZ7FRB-N/s1600/snowflakenails_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKv0rE5113DH-VazR5aol8qvPjQUPgTzetfK6qrB7U3InIIRzZtVejhQ6XXlI2EQyV6BYM3tEd3rzO-BWMxxqlaPnggIk5pLcdL3H1HvNpGRzFh-a62Wm-cNgWRw0rzFjrw_chHZ7FRB-N/s320/snowflakenails_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">For this mani I branched out and used FOUR polishes. That's a whole new thing for me. I started with a base of <b>Color Club Cold Metal</b>. Let me just stop for a moment and say that foils are just too wonderful and I especially love them in blue. This blue is such a deep beautiful pigmented color. I just felt like I was painting liquid sapphire onto my nails. And it was a one coater! Heaven. I then used BM plate 14 (I think, I did this at midnight). For the stamping I used<b> Konad Special White Polish</b> and, my go-to color, <b>China Glaze Passion</b>. To add a bit more demension, I sponged a light layer of <b>Orly Winter Wonderland</b> over everything. In real life it gives a frosty look to the snowflakes. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
I need to start taking pictures of just my base color because I feel like I am robbing all of you the chance to stare at and fall into the spell of Cold Metal. There will be a next time, I am sure! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
Have a wonderful Christmas Eve! I am off to have dinner with my grandparents and the rest of my family. Maybe I'll be inspired for a Christmas Day mani too! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
Hugs and love,<br />

I have an awesome find to share with you. I found the <b>Foiled Collection</b> by <b>Color Club</b> and it was only $8.00! I love the random finds that you can make when shopping at Ross. </span><br />

It also comes with a top coat!I love foils the way a lot of people love holo polishes. I was as giddy as a school girl when I found these gems. Of course I had to try one out. </span><br />

Really, all I want for Christmas is a new camera. One can hope. Anyway, on to the pretty that is <b>Perfect Mol-Ten</b>. I absolutely love this minty green polish. I am starting to really get into green shades and the reason why is because of color like this. It really has put me in the holiday mood. As far as application goes it was smooth and simple. I really could have done with just one coat, but I was being a little sloppy at the time (A Princess for Christmas was playing on the television) so I left a lot of streaking on the first coat. This picture shows two cats of <b>Perfect Mol-Ten</b> with a top coat of SV. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
I cannot wait to try out the rest of these gems. I don't even know where to start! I hope you all enjoyed. </span><br />
<br />

Hugs and love, </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Karen</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03367012120674726975noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5244232800843744232.post-946559703077124082011-12-14T23:05:00.000-05:002011-12-14T23:05:41.694-05:00Winter-speration<span style="font-size: large;">Hello all! Today I bring to you a mani that was supposed to be full of fantastic stamp art to an unplanned sponge mani. I wanted to make some winter inspired designs. I haven't been in the holiday mood too much and I thought perhaps making my nails look and feel festive could give me a boost. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So I put on my base coat and was about to stamp when I started getting frustrated with my nail polish and the stamping process. Two of my brands are too thin to withstand the scraping action on the BM plate. It was really driving me up a wall! I did not want to change my color palate and I remembered I had cosmetic sponges I had not used yet. I just played around and this is the result. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA-458YNw5g7C9stSXUOu_oGFGBuShPy9KLztFr5Euye20-L81gWg58-Evf2_a8nMrky7AchWA2WchYkEpTgDuUVlZa5LKfjIHo-93h5qJK9VtoenNAOf-ybNqmDpqytAugvR88rCpRNNy/s1600/winter+mani+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA-458YNw5g7C9stSXUOu_oGFGBuShPy9KLztFr5Euye20-L81gWg58-Evf2_a8nMrky7AchWA2WchYkEpTgDuUVlZa5LKfjIHo-93h5qJK9VtoenNAOf-ybNqmDpqytAugvR88rCpRNNy/s320/winter+mani+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">My base coat is <b>Sinful Colors Tokyo Pearl</b>. It has a grey undertone to it when applied that I did not notice in the bottle. It is also a wee bit on the streaky side, but two coats helped reign it in. I still like it though. I then applied <b>CQ Electric Indigo</b> with a cosmetic sponge to the middle of each nail. I sponged two oats of Electric Indigo because ,as I stated before, this is one of the brands that tends to be thin. After that coat dried I then applied <b>Finger Paints Art Dealer Teal-er</b> over the CQ color. The final touch was <b>China Glaze Fairy Dust</b> (which let's be honest here - glitter makes everything better). I put a top coat of SV to seal the deal. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwV0yjINTsDFMdcBp2vBLgHJzQ6njjp0dlXuXyMQxnm5yX6u5Sf67JMh1fIFXrtw3goRTAFHx9-GEDRMTqufDXHA7LLowT5ZnMacDH3jR1LLKUxTTZaFr6ihhxFh_60mOEUDmK1pQb9j5W/s1600/winter+mani+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwV0yjINTsDFMdcBp2vBLgHJzQ6njjp0dlXuXyMQxnm5yX6u5Sf67JMh1fIFXrtw3goRTAFHx9-GEDRMTqufDXHA7LLowT5ZnMacDH3jR1LLKUxTTZaFr6ihhxFh_60mOEUDmK1pQb9j5W/s320/winter+mani+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">This mani surprised me. I really like it. The colors and design remind of fresh glittering snow and icy windows. After being away from NJ for 10 years a girl begins to appreciate the colors of winter!<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy! <br />
<br />
Hugs and love,</span><br />
