First 2012 Post and it's Antiquated

Hello all! It's only been 6 days since the new year began, but I'm back! My computer and I were having issues when it came to saving and editing photos. How can a girl have a blog about nail polish if the photos aren't there? Well, I finally ordered my laptop to work and so I have a quick post to share.

What I have to share with you all today is Color Club's Antiquated from the Foiled Collection. This was my New Year's Eve mani. I wanted to wear something simple, classic and pretty. I also thought it was the perfect color because it reminded me of champagne. Once again, Color Club came through. I absolutely love the color. At first I was unsure about the color with my skin tone, but it wound up being fabulous. It's a lovely neutral tone with just a hint of pizzaz. And I love foil nail polishes anyway, so it was going to be a winner in my book.

This picture shows one coat of Antiquated with a light coating of Orly's Winter Wonderland. I topped it all off with SV. What I really love about this collection so far is that the polishes are so pigmented that they are easily finished in one coat as long as you have a steady hand. I have used 3 out of the 6 polishes so far. I cannot wait to try out the rest.

I hope 2012 makes this blog a bit more interesting. I really want to try some fun, fancy, brave and bold colors this year. For me that will start with a yellow polish! I can't wait to share it with you. Until then, hugs and love.

Merry Christmas

Hello all! Merry Christmas! I will not talk much at all, I just wanted to share my festive Christmas Day mani. I kept it simple and sweet with Zoya Kissy and Color Club Perfect Mol-Ten. These are becoming my two favorite colors.

I hope you are all having a joyous holiday! Be safe and enjoy.

Mr. Grinch wanted to wish you are Merry Christmas too!

Hugs and love,

Cold Metal Snowflakes

Merry Christmas Eve! I love this day; even a tad bit more than Christmas Day itself. I like the magic of Christmas Eve. The suspense of waiting for Santa to come with presents has stayed with me since childhood. However, since I am not a child anymore, nor do I have my own at present I decided to put that excitement to nail art! And for today I have a snowflake mani for Christmas Eve inspired by Cristina of Let Them Have Polish  Of course hers came out 10 million times better because she is amazing when it comes to nails. Mine came out pretty okay since I  get frustrated with stamping very easily. On to the picture!

For this mani I branched out and used FOUR polishes. That's a whole new thing for me. I started with a base of Color Club Cold Metal. Let me just stop for a moment and say that foils are just too wonderful and I especially love them in blue. This blue is such a deep beautiful pigmented color. I just felt like I was painting liquid sapphire onto my nails. And it was a one coater! Heaven. I then used BM plate 14 (I think, I did this at midnight). For the stamping I used Konad Special White Polish and, my go-to color, China Glaze Passion. To add a bit more demension, I sponged a light  layer of Orly Winter Wonderland over everything. In real life it gives a frosty look to the snowflakes.

I need to start taking pictures of just my base color because I feel like I am robbing all of you the chance to stare at and fall into the spell of Cold Metal. There will be a next time, I am sure!

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve! I am off to have dinner with my grandparents and the rest of my family. Maybe I'll be inspired for a Christmas Day mani too!

Hugs and love,
Karen

Color Club Foiled Collection

Hello all! I have an awesome find to share with you. I found the Foiled Collection by Color Club and it was only $8.00! I love the random finds that you can make when shopping at Ross.

This collection is comprised of Perfect Mol-ten, Antiquated, Cold Metal, Hot Like Lava, Foil Me Once and Lumin-Icecent. It also comes with a top coat!I love foils the way a lot of people love holo polishes. I was as giddy as a school girl when I found these gems. Of course I had to try one out.

Please excuse my poor picture quality. Really, all I want for Christmas is a new camera. One can hope. Anyway, on to the pretty that is Perfect Mol-Ten. I absolutely love this minty green polish. I am starting to really get into green shades and the reason why is because of color like this. It really has put me in the holiday mood. As far as application goes it was smooth and simple. I really could have done with just one coat, but I was being a little sloppy at the time (A Princess for Christmas was playing on the television) so I left a lot of streaking on the first coat. This picture shows two cats of Perfect Mol-Ten with a top coat of SV.

I cannot wait to try out the rest of these gems. I don't even know where to start! I hope you all enjoyed.

Fashion Addict

Hello again! Wow two posts in one day. I'm feeling accomplished this weekend. After organizing my polish racks and staring at all of the beauties (which remind me of gems) I decided to try out one of my new Color Club colors. Fashion Addict is a pale rose, almost lilac, holo. I would have never had the chance to try it out if my friend Emily hadn't pointed it out to me. In her words exactly, "Oh my God, it's holographic!" She's a huge holo fan. Fashion Addict is my very first holo and after trying it out, I think I will need to search for more. I love it!

This polish is such an easy application. I had no problems with it at all. My photos show two coats of the color topped with SV. The lighting in my place is bad. Inside my apt. it seems like two coats is perfect, but after seeing my nails in direct sunlight I think three coats would have been better. I'll remember that for next time.

Here's a close up of all that holographic awesomeness. Thanks again Emily for finding this gem! And speaking of Emily, you should all check out her blog . It's A-mazing!

October Loving

Hello all! Can anyone believe that it is October already? Where did September go? Eh, I don't care anyway. I love, love, love October. It's one of my favorite months; especially in this God-forsaken state that I live in. I miss my autumns in NJ. You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can't take the Jersey out of the girl.

In honor of my fall and October obsession (my students  made apple trees for a math project, and some how, some way, I am going to have them do a pumpkin project) I decided to create a mani with my new Ulta and Color Club colors. Voila!

I used Ulta's Not From Concentrate as the base color. I really enjoyed using this orange. It is darker in the bottle, but goes on pretty sheer. I used two coats of it because I found that 3 coats did not build well. It has a slight shimmer to it. The lightness of the color is what really draws me to it. It's that orange nod that I want for fall, but not overbearing or garish. I then used Color Club's Nothing But Truffle for the leaf stamp. I do not remember which plate I used from my BM plates. I bet I blocked it out because I was disappointed with the stamping. The stamps and me aren't getting along so well. I guess you could say the leaf detail has an antique-y, faded look to it. Works for me, because when I think fall- I think old colonial houses, pumpkin patches, and farms that need harvesting.

Until next time my friends!

Hugs and Love,
Karen
